UN Women Changing Lives in Africa 2012

Authors/editor(s): Letty Chiwara

To The Changing Lives series was developed to show how UN Women is successfully changing the lives of women and their families in Africa. From Darfur, Sudan to Mozambique and Zimbabwe, women’s lives are being transformed through their own hard work and the support of UN Women programmes.

The stories focus on UN Women’s programmes that deal with economic empowerment, violence against women and increasing women’s political participation. Each story was chosen as it was best able to show how women across the African continent can succeed and work to become independent politically, economically and without the threat of violence.
