WHAT: Voices of African Women and Girls in the post-2015 Development Agenda (CSW Side Event)

WHO: Hon. Mary Clara Makungwa, Minister of Gender, Children and Social Welfare, Republic of Malawi; Phumzile Mlambo-Ngcuka, UN Women Executive Director and Under-Secretary-General; Kgothatso Elisa Mokoena, of the World YWCA.

UN Women, the Agency for Cooperation and Research in Development (ACORD) and the World YWCA is co-hosting this event during the 58th session of CSW to amplify the voices of African women and girls in the post-2015 discussions. 

The ACORD publication “African Women and Girls at the Grassroots! Their Say on Their World Post 2015” will be launched at the event, and will be followed by an intergenerational panel discussion which will draw on issues being raised in the report as well as the “Future Young Women and Girls Want” consultations.

The event is open to UN accredited media, but space is limited. Interviews with speakers can be facilitated.
