Civil Society Engagement in the Post–2015 Development Agenda

UN Women’s overarching strategy is to engage and build the capacity and impact of civil society organizations, to more effectively advocate for gender equality, women’s rights and women’s empowerment in the post-2015 development agenda and increase public accountability in countries. UN Women wants the post-2015 development agenda to substantively reflect and integrate the contribution of civil society.

We are aiming to draw upon civil society expertise to enrich and inform UN Women’s political dialogues and advocacy positions as well as to facilitate alliance-building with Governments and other stakeholders. To that end, UN Women works with its Civil Society Advisory Groups and stands ready to coordinate and facilitate civil society participation, particularly at the regional and country level to develop common positions of advocacy in support of gender equality and women’s empowerment in the post 2015 development agenda.
