(English) As the International Labour Organization Convention 189 on domestic work turns two, a look at how Governments, unions and the private sector supported by UN Women are working towards ensuring that this female-dominated profession is regulated and worker’s rights are protected.

(English) Domestic workers gain equal rights in Brazil

(English) On the occasion of the enactment of a new law granting equal rights to domestic workers last week, UN Women launched a study on the positive impact of formalizing such employment, both for Brazil’s economy and for the country’s efforts to reduce poverty.

(English) At a side event on 11 March, UN Women launched a new briefing kit on laws and services for domestic workers and highlighted the need for more coherent, gender-sensitive and rights-based migration and labour policies, as well as accountability and compliance.
