On 25 September, the UK Foreign Secretary, UN Women, the Special Representative of the Secretary-General on Sexual Violence in Conflict, and the International Campaign to Stop Rape & Gender Violence in Conflict called for stronger actions for justice for survivors of sexual violence and gender-based crimes.
Strengthening Women’s Access to Justice
The high-level lunch event, co-hosted by the governments of Finland and South Africa, and UN Women, featured UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon, Under-Secretary-General and Executive Director of UN Women Michelle Bachelet, Nobel Laureate Shirin Ebadi, and other leaders. The discussion, highlighted progress towards women’s rights and the gaps that remain and participants made concrete commitments to address these challenges.
