A new partnership between UN Women and the Women’s Self Worth Foundation will promote women’s empowerment and gender equality over a period of three years, from 2013 to 2015.

UN Women Deputy Executive Director John Hendra introduced the new Knowledge Gateway for Women’s Economic Empowerment, currently being developed by UN Women in partnership with the Government of Canada during a side event on 6 March at the 57th session of the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW57).
On March 7, 2013, during the 57th session of the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW57), UN Women Deputy Executive Director John Hendra moderated a high-level side event titled “Achieving Gender Justice: The Case for Reparations”. The event, co-hosted by the Permanent Mission of Finland, the ICC Liaison Office to the UN and Global Action to Prevent War, addressed the question of “how to achieve transformative justice for women through reparations processes in the wake of conflict”.

At a high-level side event on 5 March, UN Women Executive Director Michelle Bachelet and Liberian Minister for Gender and Development Julia Duncan-Cassell highlighted the commitments of the 49 Governments that had already joined UN Women’s COMMIT initiative.
"One Woman: A song for UN Women" will launch on International Women’s Day. The track will be globally available for download as of 8 March (EST 7 March, 12 noon) on http://song.unwomen.org, together with the full song video and behind-the-scenes videos chronicling the song’s year-long production.
During a CSW side event on 4 March, UN Women Deputy Executive Director Lakshmi Puri commended the Istanbul Convention as a “gold standard” and welcomed it as an important addition to the evolving body of norms and standards for ending violence around the globe.
