A framework to underpin action to prevent violence against women

Prevention cannot be a short-term effort, but rather an endeavour that requires ongoing commitment from governments and other stakeholders, increased research to inform and monitor progress, and persistent action that addresses violence against women at its source. The joint UN framework draws together contemporary knowledge and practice in violence prevention. Its focus is on addressing the root causes as well as risk and protective factors associated with violence against women. More

Istanbul Marathon turns orange to say no to violence against women

The theme for this year’s Istanbul marathon was to end violence against women. Turkish Minister of Youth and Sport and Minister of Health, Mayor of Istanbul and UN Women Regional Director for Europe and Central Asia Ingibjorg Gisladottir kicked off the 37th Istanbul Marathon.
