Delivering impact for zero violence: UN Women’s progress to end violence against women and girls 2022–2025

This brief highlights UN Women’s comprehensive approach to ending violence against women and girls (VAWG) and results achieved between 2022 and 2025 across 105 countries. It presents a whole-of-organization approach built around five mutually reinforcing pillars:

• stronger laws and policies
• prevention
• survivor-centred services
• data and evidence
• support to women’s rights organizations and feminist movements

From 2022 to 2025, UN Women’s global impact included support for laws benefiting 1.37 billion women and girls; policies and action plans reaching 1.48 billion; prevention programmes addressing harmful norms benefiting 2.19 billion; and strengthened survivor services in countries home to 2.64 billion women and girls.

Key results also included an enhanced knowledge base for accountability, such as the Global Database on VAWG, strengthened cooperation for access to justice through the creation of the High-Level Network on Gender-Responsive Policing; and strategic partnerships addressing technology-facilitated violence, including driving UN System action to end violence against women and girls.

The brief further underscores the vital role of women’s rights organizations and feminist movements, highlighting support to 2,946 civil society organizations and over USD 504 million in funding to civil society partners, including through the EU-funded ACT programme and the UN Trust Fund to End Violence against Women and Girls. Grounded in evidence and partnership, the brief shows how coordinated action across laws, prevention, services, data, and movement-building can drive systemic change toward a world free from VAWG.
