UN Women’s tenth anniversary publication, “A decade of daring”, celebrates the milestones of the organization’s first 10 years.

This publication shows that economic growth is an inherently gendered process and that gender-based inequalities can, in fact, be barriers to shared prosperity. It argues that, for growth to be gender-equitable and truly inclusive, the pattern of growth must create decent work and productive employment for women and men. This would require policymakers to rethink the role of macro-level economic policies, including trade, industrial, macroeconomic, finance, and investment policies.

UN Women Jordan’s cash-for-work programme in refugee camp settings—as part of its holistic response to the Syria crisis, seeks to restore dignity and normalcy to refugees by providing them ways to engage their skills and labour in refugee camp-based economies. The programme combines cash for assistance with the provision of social services such as day care, emergency medical support, life skills and remedial education and civic engagement, to provide a holistic approach to supporting women’s empowerment and gender equality. The report presented reflects the findings of programme monitoring undertaken in 2015. The data highlights the importance of engaging people productively to build gender equality and combat violence against women, while enhancing household dietary diversity and food security through increased household spending.

This book compiles the concrete steps and measures to achieve gender equality under UN Women’s “Step It Up” initiative, pledged by 72 Heads of State and Government who came together at the Global Leaders' Meeting in September 2015.

The Beijing Platform for Action mandates the full participation of women in the decision-making, including within the UN system. Twenty years later, statistical trends and future projections on representation within the UN system are analysed, and action points to overcome obstacles and accelerate progress are presented.

In 2014, the Future Policy Award celebrated laws and policies that contribute to ending one of the most pervasive human rights violations: violence against women and girls. One in three women worldwide suffers some form of violence in her lifetime. By restricting women’s choices and limiting their ability to act, the persistence of violence against women has serious consequences for peace and security, economic development and poverty reduction. Conceptual references for gender-responsive budgeting explains basic concepts such as gender, public budget, gender, gender equality, gender-responsive budgeting. It also details the lines of action and regulatory framework in Mexico at the federal level in this area.

The publication is an introduction to the process of mainstreaming gender in public budgeting and synthesizes the Mexican experience, from signing international human rights treaties to actions at federal and state levels in harmonizing gender-responsive laws, policies and budgets.

Although women's human rights have advanced in the occupied Palestinian territory (oPt), serious legal and cultural barriers in numerous aspects of women's daily life have prevented their rights from fully being realized.

This book (in Spanish) focuses on macroeconomics, fiscal policy and trade liberalization, and their impact on women. It includes a series of presentations made at a course on the subject organized by UNIFEM, ECLAC, ILPES and the national women's mechanisms of Chile, SERNAM, and some key articles from the special edition of World Development on feminist economics.
