The project supports the promotion of women’s rights through the integration of gender perspectives in efforts to prevent violent extremism. This support is through increase participation of women in security and preventing violent extremism discourse in different platforms and relevant mechanisms. In addition to expanding the knowledge base on gender and violent extremism by conducting localized research and systematic awareness-raising activities, inclusion of women-led grassroots and CSOs in various inter-governmental processes aiming to prevent violent extremism.

At the 2021 Generation Equality Forum, world leaders and partners committed to eliminating gender inequalities and to financing and implementing laws, policies, and programmes to meet priority actions and targets in a Global Acceleration Plan for Gender Equality. Through a survey of commitment-makers, this report sheds light on the nature of the commitments made and assesses measurable progress. It highlights trends and notes where more work is needed.

The High-Level Panel produced two reports as well as toolkits for each of the seven drivers of change.

UN Women Jordan’s cash-for-work programme in refugee camp settings—as part of its holistic response to the Syria crisis, seeks to restore dignity and normalcy to refugees by providing them ways to engage their skills and labour in refugee camp-based economies. The programme combines cash for assistance with the provision of social services such as day care, emergency medical support, life skills and remedial education and civic engagement, to provide a holistic approach to supporting women’s empowerment and gender equality. The report presented reflects the findings of programme monitoring undertaken in 2015. The data highlights the importance of engaging people productively to build gender equality and combat violence against women, while enhancing household dietary diversity and food security through increased household spending.

This publication aims to enhance the existing knowledge and resources on the current situation of the Filipino migrant workers with particular attention to the gender dimensions of migration. It includes accessible sex-disaggregated data and analysis of women migrants’ profiles.

The UN Trust Fund to End Violence against Women annual report documents the work of the UNTF grantees around the world in 2014. It highlights progress that grantees are making to prevent, address, and end violence against women and girls in all its forms. The annual report draws on the UNTF monitoring missions carried out during 2014, annual evaluation reports from grantees and discussions with partners and donors.

In 2014, the Future Policy Award celebrated laws and policies that contribute to ending one of the most pervasive human rights violations: violence against women and girls. One in three women worldwide suffers some form of violence in her lifetime. By restricting women’s choices and limiting their ability to act, the persistence of violence against women has serious consequences for peace and security, economic development and poverty reduction. Thus, it hampers all efforts towards a future just society.
