In addition to highlighting progress, the synthesis captures commonly identified drivers of change in the form of good practices and innovation, as well as impediments.

The Secretary-General’s “System-wide strategy on gender parity” includes six UN Women–specific recommendations, which were incorporated and highlighted in UN Women’s initial implementation plan (December 2017). As requested by the Secretary-General, this status report and updated implementation plan elaborates on the progress made and results achieved since 2017, based on the specific requests for UN Women. It also reports on UN Women’s system-wide work, as well as internal progress.

TRANSFORM Issue no. 13 focuses on the final meta-analysis of evaluations covering the Strategic Plan 2014–2017 cycle. The meta-analysis synthesized information from 39 evaluations and provided a consolidated assessment of the development effectiveness and efficiency results of UN Women. The analysis also provided insights on the drivers of change and contributions made by UN Women to humanitarian response.

TRANSFORM Issue no. 12 focuses on UN Women’s contribution to women’s political participation and leadership from 2011 to 2017. It summarizes learning from past practices that can inform and strengthen future work in this area. It also addresses UN Women’s strategic niche in promoting women’s political participation and leadership in the context of the UN Secretary-General’s call for the United Nations Development System reform to deliver on the 2030 Agenda.

This implementation plan will guide UN Women to move forward with the recommended actions of the “System-wide strategy on gender parity”. The strategy includes six UN Women–specific recommendations. UN Women is also committed to other and more general recommendations of the gender parity strategy. Furthermore, UN Women will assist and offer its expertise to other UN entities to the maximum extent possible.
