Preparatory meetings are taking place prior to the 70th session of the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW70).

Expert group meeting

UN Women convened a virtual expert group meeting on 8–10 September 2025 in preparation for the CSW70, which focused on the priority theme: “Ensuring and strengthening access to justice for all women and girls, including by promoting inclusive and equitable legal systems, eliminating discriminatory laws, policies, and practices, and addressing structural barriers”. Multi-stakeholder hearing

The Commission on the Status of Women organized an informal, interactive multi-stakeholder hearing on 30 January 2026 to provide perspectives on the CSW70 priority theme. More information.

Regional consultations

Latin America and the Caribbean

Latin America and the Caribbean ministers and high-level authorities of the national machineries for the advancement of women attended the sixty-seventh meeting of the Presiding Officers of the Regional Conference on Women in Latin America and the Caribbean at the special regional consultation prior to the seventieth session of the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW70), held in Santiago, Chile, on 1 and 2 December 2025. As result, the national authorities adopted the Agreements of the meeting, setting the regional position to the CSW70 on the priority theme, “Ensuring and strengthening access to justice for all women and girls, including by promoting inclusive and equitable legal systems, eliminating discriminatory laws, policies, and practices, and addressing structural barriers”, highlighting the critical role of access to justice as a the guarantee to exercise other rights.

Asia and the Pacific

On 29–30 January 2026, representatives of approximately 35 ESCAP Member States, 11 UN entities, and 130 civil society and other actors across the region came together for the Asia–Pacific Regional Preparatory Meeting on the Seventieth Session of the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW70), held in Bangkok, Thailand, and online. Based on the expert panels and in-depth discussions on the CSW70 priority theme, the meeting report offers suggested actions to further access to justice for all women and girls. Immediately prior to the Regional Preparatory Meeting, on 27–28 January, more than 110 CSOs from 22 countries convened at the CSW70 CSO Forum to strategize on their CSW70 engagement at the regional and global levels.
