Issue no. 11 of TRANSFORM presents the fourth meta-analysis of decentralized evaluations managed by UN Women in 2016. In 2015–2016, the UN Women Independent Evaluation Office undertook a corporate evaluation of UN Women’s strategic partnerships for gender equality and women’s empowerment. The evaluation is intended to enhance UN Women’s approach to strategic partnerships with the aim of ensuring that gender equality is reached by 2030. It was also expected to contribute to an understanding of how UN Women’s strategic partnerships can facilitate a strong position for gender equality and women’s empowerment within the current global development context and the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

Issue no. 7 of TRANSFORM aims to make more accessible conclusions and recommendations from the recently concluded evaluation of UN Women’s contribution to UN system coordination on gender equality and the empowerment of women (GEEW). The evaluation assessed the relevance, effectiveness and organizational efficiency of UN Women’s UN coordination mandate on GEEW. The report provides seven main conclusions and eight recommendations; it also presents the management response to the evaluation.

UN Women’s Independent Evaluation Office undertook this corporate evaluation to assess the progress made so far towards achieving GEEW results in the implementation of this dimension of its mandate, with the aim of informing future work. The evaluation covers all aspects of the UN coordination role and the articulation with the other dimensions of the mandate to support normative and operational work on GEEW at the global, regional and country levels.
