From November 25, the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, multiple events worldwide, such as marches, art competitions, cycling rallies and marathons will be organized as part of the UN System wide activities for the 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence, to urge actions to end this scourge that impacts one in three women worldwide.

UN Women, in partnership with the Government of Mexico City launch a campaign to prevent and eliminate sexual harassment and other forms of sexual violence against women in public transport in Mexico City as part of the Safe Cities and Safe Public Spaces for women and girls programme.

On average, 4 per cent of respondents in nine sites across six countries said they had gang raped a woman or girl. This is the first time data from such a large sample has been gathered on gang rape.
