Innovation, Technology and Entrepreneurship Industry Forum 2017: Partnerships to make innovation and technology work for women and girls

The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)—adopted by all UN Member States in 2015—provide a roadmap to change the course of the 21st century for a new, fairer, more sustainable world, including a central drive to achieve full equality of men and women by 2030. Current trajectories towards gender equality will not create the world we want. The achievement of this ambitious agenda will require transformative shifts, integrated approaches, and new solutions. Partnerships are key to accelerate the process and to remove the barriers to the advancement of women and girls.

UN Women, the UN entity for Gender Equality and Women’s Empowerment and SAP, the world’s largest provider of enterprise application software, are partnering to host the first UN Women Global Innovation, Technology and Entrepreneurship Industry Forum at the SAP Leonardo Center New York supported by SAP Next-Gen.

The forum is a one-day global conference which will bring together CEO’s, social entrepreneurs, innovators and thought leaders, including Deputy Secretary-General Amina J. Mohammed, UN Women Executive Director Phumzile Mlambo-Ngcuka; Alicia Tillman Chief Marketing Officer, SAP; Nate Hurst, HP Chief Sustainability and Social Impact Officer; Meredith Walker, Founder Amy Poehler’s Smart Girls; Christyl Johnson, NASA Deputy Director for Technology and Research Investments; Rachel Roy, Founder of the fashion brand Rachel Roy; and Sarah Michelle Gellar, Chief Brand Officer & Co-founder Foodstirs, among others to share how innovation, technology and entrepreneurship can be used to advance gender equality and women’s economic empowerment around the world. This leading industry forum will address the key barriers to women and girl’s advancement, and will showcase leading strategies and innovative solutions for overcoming these challenges.
