Have your say: How can we help women to get better jobs, earn more money, and start a business?

Date:

New York, 13 June 2016 - The UN Secretary-General’s High-Level Panel on Women’s Economic Empowerment has teamed up with the UN Sustainable Development Goals Action Campaign to roll out a women's economic empowerment edition of the MY World survey on how we can help women get better jobs, earn more money, and start a business. The survey will gather people's views on the world of women and work – from the barriers they face to ideas that could act as force multipliers to their economic progress.

“Women’s economic empowerment means that a woman can be independent: she controls her own money, her own body, and makes her own choices,” says Phumzile Mlambo-Ngcuka, UN Women Executive Director and Member of the High-Level Panel. “Through the survey we want to find out from citizens worldwide what they see as the keys to putting more money into the hands of women.”

The survey questions also aim to inform world leaders of what people think are the barriers to progress, what would help to accelerate change, and how to address these challenges. The responses to the survey will also be shared with members of the High-Level Panel who plan to release a report containing recommendations on how to accelerate women’s economic empowerment in September 2016.
