UN Women Executive Board to undertake mid-term review of Strategic Plan
Date:
The UN Women Executive Board will convene for this year’s Annual Session from 27 to 28 June at United Nations headquarters in New York.
The Chair of the session, Ambassador Mohamed Khaled Khiari from the Permanent Mission of Tunisia to the United Nations, will introduce the session and UN Women Executive Director Phumzile Mlambo-Ngcuka will present the organization’s report on progress made on its Strategic Plan, 2014-2017. The report discusses lessons learned two years into the Plan following an extensive Mid-Term Review, and how to integrate the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development in the Plan.
During a special briefing on 28 June, the UN Women Country Office Representative in Mali will provide insight on UN Women’s response on the ground. The Executive Board will also be briefed on UN Women’s work in a more generic manner at country and regional levels.
A lunchtime side event, also on 28 June, co-organized by the Permanent Mission of Finland to the United Nations, on women’s involvement in peace processes will take a closer look at collaborations with religious and traditional actors.
The Executive Board will also consider a 2015 report on UN Women’s evaluation function, reports on internal audit and investigation activities in 2015, as well as the report of the Audit Advisory Committee and its related management response.
The detailed agenda and all official documents of the Annual Session 2016 can be accessed on the Executive Board webpage or the PaperSmart-portal of the United Nations.
