At only 11 years old, Samaira Mehta is already the founder and CEO Coderbunnyz and Codermindz, two board games that introduce kids to the concepts of computer programming and artificial intelligence. She’s also the creator of the “Yes, One Billion Kids Can Code” initiative, which aims to help one billion kids in the world gain access to STEM and coding tools by 2030.

UN Women Executive Director Phumzile Mlambo-Ngcuka will participate in the G7 Foreign Ministers meeting on 5 April in Dinard, France, as a member of the G7 Gender Equality Advisory Council established by French President Emmanuel Macron. The G7 meeting will discuss reducing gender inequality globally, with a focus on protecting women from sexual violence in conflict and strengthening the role of women in peace processes and crisis resolution.

A refugee from Iraqi Kurdistan, Taffan Ako fled to Sweden in 1997 with her family. Today she is the Coordinator of One Young World Ambassadors for Scandinavia and Eastern Europe and founder of EmpowHERment, an organization that assists women and young girls who have been former ISIS sex slaves or victims of human trafficking. Her foundation finances integration projects for children and women in Europe and in Iraqi Kurdistan. Ako was one of the Young Leaders attending the EU Development Days in June 2018 and spoke to UN Women about her experience growing up as a refugee in Sweden and her activism today.
