UN official commemoration of the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women
For the UN Secretary-General's UNiTE by 2030 to End Violence against Women Campaign (UNiTE Campaign) official Commemoration of the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, UN Women will create a prerecorded event to be broadcasted through a video on Zoom and YouTube on 24 November 2021 at 10:00 AM — 11: 30 AM EST.
The video will be a compilation of prerecorded elements including (but not limited to) short video statements, musical interludes, video montages, grantee video stories, and a panel discussion. More details can be found in the key deliverables below.
The event will serve to commemorate the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women which this year marks the 30th anniversary of the 16 Days of Activism against Gender-based Violence.
The theme of this year’s UN Secretary-General’s UNiTE campaign is “Orange the World: End Violence against Women Now!” and aims to highlight the universal and pervasive nature of violence against women and girls (VAWG) across the world and acknowledge the worldwide challenges deriving from COVID-19, humanitarian, and conflict situations.
The campaign also celebrates success stories, showcasing the groundbreaking and transformative work that is being carried out despite the impact of these challenges, to show that VAWG can be prevented and inspire scale up and greater investments in proven solutions.
