High-level luncheon: The road to 2020: How to make optimal use of the upcoming anniversary of the WPS agenda to accelerate its implementation

This high-level luncheon will be an opportunity for an open dialogue between various stakeholders to brainstorm on steps towards the policy milestone in 2020. The objective is to provide a space for Member States to begin a conversation with relevant stakeholders to plan and strategize.

Guiding questions include:

• What concrete actions can be taken to accelerate implementation of the women, peace, and security agenda so that Member States can demonstrate results at the 20th anniversary?
• What elements would be needed in a forward-looking policy agenda for women, peace, and security that could drive better implementation from 2020 to 2030?
• How can we improve the follow-up of the Security Council to its resolutions on women, peace, and security? What role can the Informal Expert Group on Women, Peace and Security play in this regard?
