Expert Group Meeting: Innovation and technological change, and education in the digital age for achieving gender equality and the empowerment of all women and girls
UN Women convened a virtual expert group meeting (EGM) on the priority theme, Innovation and technological change, and education in the digital age for achieving gender equality and the empowerment of all women and girls, from 10 - 13 October 2022.
Regional consultation in the African region prior to CSW67
The African Union Commission (AUC) in partnership with UN Women, the Economic Commission for Africa (ECA), the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) convened the continent wide 67th pre-CSW Africa consultations on “Innovation and technological change, and education in the digital age for achieving gender equality and the empowerment of all women and girls” virtually from 29 November to 1 December 2022. The consultation which hosted both experts and ministers, reviewed and adopted the Common Africa Position for CSW67 and made recommendations on the following aspects:
- Access to digital tools, the internet, and relevant content for women and girls
- Data availability to support the gender-responsive innovation
- Human and Institutional Capacity in support of technology and innovation for women and girls
- Human rights and agency
- Digital safety for women and children
- Regional digital cooperation

Regional consultation in the Arab region prior to CSW67
On 6 February 2023, the women ministers, and ministers and representatives of national mechanisms concerned with women's affairs in the member States of the League of Arab States took part in the Arab preparatory meeting for the 67th session of the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women, under the umbrella of the League of Arab States, and chaired by the Republic of Iraq, President of the 42nd session of the Committee on Arab Women. Participants coordinated and agreed on the unified Arab regional position on the priority theme of CSW67, “Innovation and technological change, and education in the digital age for achieving gender equality and empowering all women and girls”.

Regional Consultation in Asia-Pacific region prior to CSW67
The Asia-Pacific CSW67 Regional Consultation took place on 8 and 9 February, jointly organized by the UN Women and the Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) in collaboration with the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), and the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF). The consultations brought together participants from the Asia-Pacific countries (from both National Coordination Mechanisms for gender equality and women’s empowerment and other relevant ministries) as well as experts and practitioners from a variety of fields, including academia, civil society, inter-governmental organizations, United Nations entities, private sector and international financial institutions. The consultations provided a forum for ESCAP member States and key stakeholders in the Asia-Pacific region to explore ways to accelerate progress on key frameworks including the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action (in particular, the 2019 Asia-Pacific Declaration on Advancing Gender Equality and Women’s Empowerment: Beijing+25 Review), the Financing for Development, Addis Ababa Action Agenda, and the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
Regional consultation in the Latin America and the Caribbean region prior to CSW67
On 8 and 9 February 2023, the ministers and high-level authorities of the national machineries for the advancement of women in Latin America and the Caribbean, convened in the framework of the sixty-fourth meeting of the Presiding Officers of the Regional Conference on Women in Latin America and the Caribbean at the special regional consultation prior to the sixty-seventh session of the Commission on the Status of Women, on the priority theme is “Innovation and technological change, and education in the digital age for achieving gender equality and the empowerment of all women and girls”. The Ministers and High-Level Authorities of the National Machineries for the Advancement of Women in Latin America and the Caribbean adopted the Buenos Aires Declaration on 9 February 2023.
