Side Events

The programme of side events and parallel events, or activities organized outside the formal programme of the session of the Commission, provides an excellent opportunity for Member States, UN entities and NGOs to discuss themes of the Commission and other critical gender equality issues.

Side events held by Permanent Missions, Intergovernmental Organizations and UN entities

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, CSW65 side events took place virtually. Permanent Missions, intergovernmental organizations and United Nations system entities organizing CSW65 side events are encouraged to send information about their side events to UN-Women by 1 February 2021 for inclusion in the schedule of virtual CSW65 side events. Each side event organizer is responsible for hosting and choosing their virtual event platform.

Please check back frequently as we will keep updating the schedule of side events held by Permanent Missions, Intergovernmental Organizations and UN entities. All times on the schedule are displayed in Eastern US/Canada timezone (UNHQ New York). All participants/attendees at CSW65 side events are required to comply with the UN system events code of conduct.

Parallel events held by Non-governmental Organizations

Parallel events organized by NGOs took place virtually. NGO parallel events are coordinated by the NGO Committee on the Status of Women (NGO CSW/NY), which is a group of New York–based women’s NGOs in consultative status with the Economic and Social Council. Participation in the virtual NGO CSW platform and at NGO parallel events do not require registration for the official CSW. The NGO CSW platform has its own registration/sign-up for participants of NGO parallel events. For more information on the NGO CSW65 Forum and on NGO parallel events, please visit the website of the NGO Committee on the Status of Women (NGO CSW/NY) at https://ngocsw.org/ngocsw65/.
