A new partnership between UN Women and the Women’s Self Worth Foundation will promote women’s empowerment and gender equality over a period of three years, from 2013 to 2015.
UN Women Executive Director Michelle Bachelet met Cheryl Saban, President of the Women’s Self Worth Foundation, at UN Women headquarters in New York on the occasion of International Women’s Day to cement their partnership and thank her for her tremendous support.
Ms. Bachelet welcomed the partnership. “We will work concretely on programmes to improve the situation of women and girls so they have equal dignity and equal opportunity,” she said.
Ms. Saban said, “This is a monumental moment for the Self Worth Foundation and I am absolutely honoured to be able to work side-by-side with Ms. Bachelet and the UN as we work to identify and support various initiatives aimed at women’s empowerment and gender equality. Today’s announcement represents a tremendous opportunity to shine a spotlight on women’s rights and the current issues faced by woman today.
“Women have helped change the world with their creative abilities by challenging perceived boundaries, and our goal through this partnership is to identify initiatives that will give women a proud voice for generations to come. I share Ms. Bachelet’s excitement to watch these empowerment initiatives unfold for the benefit of women of all ages across the globe,” said Ms. Saban.
The Women’s Self Worth Foundation was formed in 2009 and is a private 501 (C) (3) charitable organization. The primary mission of the Foundation is to provide grants to organizations that work towards the empowerment and advancement of women.
