Ahead of International Women’s Day, the 6th Annual Women’s Empowerment Principles (WEPs) event, “Gender Equality and the Global Jobs Challenge,” will bring together leaders from business, government and civil society to spotlight business strategies, experience and challenges to enhancing job opportunities for women and expanding access to decent jobs.

Hosted by the WEPs, a partnership initiative of UN Women and the UN Global Compact, the event will discuss and seek to strengthen local and global solutions on gender equality. With more than 670 CEO signatories worldwide, the WEPs provide a roadmap for companies to advance and empower women in the workplace, marketplace and community.

Day one, 5 March, (open to the media) will feature a series of short, interactive “WEPs conversations” to highlight WEPs-related platforms, activities and engagement opportunities, as well as research and data that is driving change.

Day two, the main event, on 6 March, to take place at UN Headquarters (open to the media), Under-Secretary-General and UN Women Executive Director Phumzile Mlambo-Ngcuka and UN Global Compact Executive Director Georg Kell will give opening remarks. The event will include a morning plenary, the WEPs Leadership Awards, WEPs luncheon and afternoon roundtable sessions designed to advance gender equality and women's empowerment, and inspire collaboration.
