Media Advisory: UN Women - Valencia Club de Fútbol partnership kick-off

WHAT: UN Women and Valencia Club de Futbol (VCF) will co-host a special launch event on Tuesday, May 26, to announce a new partnership which aims to reach a broad audience across the globe and expand advocacy efforts towards gender equality and women’s empowerment. The partnership will be announced by UN Women’s Executive Director, Phumzile Mlambo-Ngcuka, and the Chairwoman of VCF, Lay Hoon Chan, the only female Chairperson of the soccer clubs in the top Spanish league. They will be joined by the soccer superstars of the first team of VCF, such as Dani Parejo and Álvaro Negredo.

The UN Women-VCF collaboration will leverage exciting opportunities to demonstrate both partners’ shared commitment to promoting gender equality and women’s empowerment in the sporting realm and beyond, and to lend support to innovative initiatives such as UN Women’s HeforShe campaign.
