One month on from the devastating earthquake in Nepal, the UN's Inter-cluster Gender Task Force in Response to the Nepal Earthquakes takes stock of the situation —both looking back and moving forward —in its first Gender Bulletin Special Issue.
The two-page Gender Equality Bulletin complements the inter-agency Gender Alert by providing key up-to-date facts and figures, initiatives, progress, challenges, needs and opportunities related to gender equality and women's empowerment as a result of the earthquake and in the context of the emergency response. They are based on a consolidation of inputs from various sources (district assessments and analyses, cluster gender focal points, women's organizations, NGOs, UN agencies, etc.) provided to and consolidated by the UN Women-led Gender Task Force. The Bulletin also presents updated mapping of gender-focused responses currently happening on the ground.
