The UN Women Executive Board elects its 2024 Bureau

In elections taking place on 10 January, the UN Women Executive Board opened the year by electing its new Bureau for 2024.
The Presidency of the Executive Board is held in 2024 by the Latin American and Caribbean group, who has nominated H.E. Ms. Markova Concepción Jaramillo, Ambassador and Permanent Representative of Panama to the United Nations as representative.
Together with President Markova, the following Vice-Presidents representing the remaining regional groups were elected: H.E. Jonibek Ismoil Hikmat, Ambassador and Permanent Representative of Tajikistan to the United Nations (representing the Asia and the Pacific Group); H.E. Ms. Halley Christine Yapi Bah, Ambassador and Deputy Permanent Representative at the Permanent Mission of Côte d'Ivoire to the United Nations (representing the African Group); H.E. Mr. Andreas Von Uexküll Ambassador and Deputy Permanent Representative of Sweden to the United Nations (representing the Western European and Others Group), as well as Ms. Joanna Sylwia Skoczek, Minister Counsellor and Deputy Permanent Representative of Poland to the United Nations (representing the Eastern European Group).
The Executive Director of UN-Women, Ms. Sima Bahous, would like to warmly thank Ambassador Kyslytsya from Ukraine for assuming the functions of President of the Executive Board in 2023, supported by the ambassadors of Colombia, Italy and Thailand and the First Counsellor of Cameroon as Vice Presidents. UN-Women is grateful for their unwavering commitment and service.
The Executive Board governs the operational activities of UN Women. The Executive Board Bureau comprises of a President and four Vice-Presidents, each representing one of the five regional groups. The Bureau is elected by the Executive Board each year from among its members, with the presidency rotating among the regional groups on an annual basis.
